The Role:
As Senior Quantity Surveyor, you will report directly to the Commercial Manager, taking responsibility for the full commercial and contractual management of projects ranging from £5m to £30m. This role combines elements of quantity surveying with senior-level management responsibilities, offering a varied and rewarding challenge. Operating within sectors such as water, power, rail, highways, aviation, and bridges, the business provides a platform for professional growth and exposure to high-profile infrastructure schemes.
Key Duties:
1. Lead the commercial delivery of projects, ensuring profitability and compliance.
2. Manage a team of quantity surveyors, providing guidance and mentoring to maintain high performance standards.
3. Oversee the preparation and negotiation of contracts, ensuring terms are favourable and risks are minimised.
4. Develop and implement cost management strategies to optimise financial outcomes.
5. Liaise with clients, senior stakeholders, and subcontractors to build and maintain strong working relationships.
6. Carry out site visits to monitor progress, provide valuations, and address any on-site issues.
7. Lead the resolution of contractual disputes and provide strategic advice on claims and variations.
8. Produce detailed cost reports and forecasts for senior management, supporting data-driven decision-making.

The Ideal Candidate:
1. Extensive experience in Quantity Surveying, ideally in a senior or managing role within civil engineering or infrastructure sectors.
2. Proven ability to manage and develop a team of quantity surveyors, ensuring the successful delivery of projects.
3. In-depth knowledge of NEC forms of contract and commercial management principles.
4. Strong problem-solving and negotiation skills, with the ability to deliver cost-effective solutions under tight deadlines.
5. Excellent communication skills, confident in liaising with clients, stakeholders, and site teams at all levels.
6. Highly organised and detail-focused, with the ability to manage multiple projects and conflicting priorities.
