FINTEC recruit is seeking a Logistics and Procurement Coordinator for our marine/shipping client based in South Shields. This is a permanent role with a salary circa £29,000 plus benefits. There will be some travel with this role in the UK and overseas to shipyards. You will be ensuring procurement activity is undertaken in full compliance with UK MOD & Public Sector Procurement Legislation and/or Crown Commercial Service Framework.
Responsibilities:
1. Overseeing and assisting with operational functions.
2. Supporting procurement and logistics functions within the operational ship management team.
3. Assist in managing the supply chain, coordinating shipments and procurement tasks completed meeting regulatory requirements.
4. Handle quotations, create purchase orders, liaising with suppliers, ensuring timely delivery of equipment, spare parts, and services for vessels.
5. Maintain and update IT documentation/internal RFQ procurement software system.
6. Liaise and organise freight forwarding, importation of sourced equipment, spares, components for the vessels globally, compliant with import/export regulations.
7. Follow up on purchase orders, confirming details with suppliers.
Skills and Experience Required:
1. Procurement and Logistics Experience: Proven experience in a procurement or logistics role, ideally within the marine or shipping industry.
2. Regulatory Knowledge: Familiarity with UK Public Sector Procurement Legislation, Crown Commercial Service Frameworks, and customs regulations.
3. Organisational Skills: Strong ability to multitask, manage deadlines, and prioritise work efficiently in a fast-paced environment.
4. Communication: Excellent verbal and written communication skills to liaise effectively with suppliers, logistics partners, and internal stakeholders.
5. Problem-Solving: Ability to troubleshoot and resolve procurement or logistics issues, ensuring minimal disruption to operations.
6. IT Skills: Proficiency in Microsoft Office, and experience with procurement and logistics software (e.g., SAGE or similar).
7. International Knowledge: First-hand knowledge of International Freight regulations and Ship Spares in Transit.
8. Experience: International experience and experience of arranging transport for collection.
9. Understanding: Understanding of on-time delivery, cost, and quality through the successful actions of the Supply Chain.
10. Additional Experience: Experience in the use of Microsoft packages. (SAGE or other systems related is greatly desired however not essential)
