The Role
The Field Engineer assists construction project team members in various areas, including preparation of field-related reports, scoping, estimating, procuring, and submittals.
Qualifications:
1. Some experience in the construction industry with a commercial or industrial general contractor.
2. Experience with estimating, design, and scheduling software highly desired.
3. Knowledge of construction means and methods.
4. Experience with blueprint reading a plus but not required.
5. Must demonstrate a strong ability to adapt and be flexible in a fast-paced work environment.
6. Demonstrate integrity consistent with Centennial’s core values.
7. Collaborate and work effectively in a team environment with people of various backgrounds and styles.
8. Strong verbal and written communication skills, including clear, concise, and professional presentation of information.
9. Adapt to the constantly evolving world of technology, including Microsoft Office suite, ProCore, Adobe, and BlueBeam.
10. Bachelor’s degree in Construction Management, Engineering, or related field highly desired.
Responsibilities:
1. Project Support: Assists with daily reports and other field assignments; writing scopes of work; job walks; project buyout support; procurement of subcontractors, materials, and equipment; prepares AutoCAD as-built drawings and operation and maintenance manuals; assists Project Manager during bid negotiations.
2. Estimating: Assists in the development of detailed line-item takeoffs and pricing; enters line items into Unit Price Book software using RS Means or other estimating tools.
3. Subcontractor Support: Prepares bid documents for subcontractors; assembles quotes for review; gathers safety information; tracks progress payments and invoicing; prepares subcontracts.
4. Scheduling: Helps develop and maintain project schedules.
5. Safety: Ensures compliance with Centennial’s Health, Safety, Environment and Quality (HSEQ) guidelines, and local requirements (OSHA, USACE EM385.1.1, etc.).
Responsible for driving between project sites that are often miles apart or from the assigned office location. Performance of required job duties will be in an office environment along with visits to construction sites under various weather conditions.
The physical demands include: walking on uneven terrain, sitting, standing, walking, talking, hearing, frequent use of hands, occasional climbing, balancing, stooping, kneeling, squatting, or reaching, and lifting/moving up to 25 pounds.
