Medical Receptionist 18.5 or 27 hours pw 8am-6pm
We are seeking a highly motivated individual to join our busy, friendly, hard-working team for 27 hours worked over 3 days 8am-6pm on a permanent basis. The ideal candidate will have an excellent telephone manner, a willingness to learn with the ability to work under pressure and provide a high-quality patient service.
Main Duties of the Job
* Working on reception, checking patients in and out, dealing with face-to-face queries and a large volume of administrative tasks such as:
* Registering new patients/temporary residents
* Opening and actioning post
* Actioning all emails that come through to our Deerness Park Mailbox
* Prescription Requests
* Working through tasks on our in-house system Emis Web
* Liaison between patients and clinicians
* Third party communications
Working in the back office answering a high volume of calls, signposting patients to the appropriate health care professional within practice or to related services such as Pharmacy First, Minor Injuries Unit - Dealing with patient queries via phone, administrative tasks such as:
* Prescription requests
* Working through tasks on our in-house system Emis Web
* Accurate data entry in relation to patient records
* Booking of interpreters, ambulance services
* Dealing with managed referrals to district nurses/wound hub teams etc.
* Scanning/coding documents onto patient records
* Third party communication

We are a training practice. We have 2 sites with a list size of 13,500 patients based in Hendon and Hylton Castle (Bunny Hill PCC), Sunderland.
Our clinical team comprises of:
* 4 GP Partners
* 5 Advanced Practitioners
* 5 Nurses
* 6 Health Care Assistants
* With a large admin team of 17.
Job Responsibilities
The role of the medical receptionist is vast and varied. The duties consist of making appointments for patients through a variety of channels, communicating with patients on a day-to-day basis about upcoming appointments, ordering prescriptions, signposting patients to the right clinician, communicating on behalf of a patient to healthcare professionals, scanning and coding inbound documents, and making referrals to other providers. The medical receptionist role is the face of the practice and the first point of contact for the patients; therefore, you must be caring, empathetic, and committed to providing the best service.
Person Specification
Experience
* Ability to work at pace with a large team.
* Ability to prioritise workload.
* Experience of working in a GP Practice or similar clinical setting.
