We are recruiting for an exciting new role within our Prompt Payments Team, which is responsible for delivering upon the Ministerial priority of tackling late payments and long payment terms between UK businesses. Our team sits within the DBT Small Business Growth Directorate, which supports small and medium-sized businesses across the UK to start, grow and prosper.
Late payments are a scourge for small businesses, restricting their ability to thrive and grow. DBT Ministers have committed to a package of measures to tackle this problem head-on, and we are looking for a highly motivated new recruit to strengthen and accelerate our work on enforcement.
The role we are recruiting for is:
Prompt Payments Enforcement Officer. You will play a key role in our enforcement of the Reporting on Payment Practices and Performance Regulations 2017 which require large companies to report twice yearly on their payment performance via GOV.UK ( This reporting is key to driving transparency and behaviour change in large companies, and we are ramping up our enforcement to ensure that all companies within scope are reporting as required.
Key responsibilities
* Day-to-day lead on a UK-wide enforcement programme, making targeted contact with non-compliant companies and maintaining clear and organised casework records.
* Working closely with Digital colleagues to ensure ongoing effective operation of our GOV.UK payment performance reporting service.
* Acting as our first point of contact for businesses using the payment performance reporting service, including regular oversight of our reporting inbox and troubleshooting queries quickly as they arise.
* Building constructive relationships and working with partners (Insolvency Service, Companies House, etc) on enforcement and compliance.
* Supporting SEO and Grade 7 as needed with complex cases including potential prosecutions of non-compliant companies.
* Supporting SEO and Grade 7 as needed with regulatory updates, including maintaining clear and accurate guidance for reporting requirements.
