UK Athletics (UKA) wishes to appoint independent persons to join a Selection Appeal Group from which Panels of three will be selected by Sport Resolutions to hear selection appeals. Selection appeals will relate to teams selected for Major Championships and the World Class Programme (WCP). UKA is the National Governing Body for athletics in the UK. As the Member Federation of World Athletics, it is responsible for the selection of Great Britain and Northern Ireland teams for international competitions. It also operates the UK Sport funded WCP. TERM Members of the Selections Appeal Group will be appointed by Sport Resolutions until the LA 2028 Olympic and Paralympic Games. ROLE DESCRIPTION Be a member of appeals panels as appointed by Sport Resolutions to determine athlete selection appeals outcomes for Major Championships and the WCP in line with the relevant Selection Policy and Appeals Procedure. Where requested, provide and receive feedback on process? in formal sessions with UKA Work closely with other Selection Appeal Group members to ensure consistency of decision-making. Terms of Reference for the Selection Appeals Group will be provided and members will be expected to abide by the rules within the Terms of Reference. PERSON SPECIFICATION All Selection Appeal Group members must be able to demonstrate: An intimate knowledge of the UK sporting system, in particular in Olympic and Paralympic sport. Recent and detailed knowledge of the UK Sport WCP and operation. Recent and relevant experience of selection appeals. Independence and neutrality in relation to UKA and low likelihood of conflicts of interest. One appointee will be selected to sit as Chair of the Panels and must be: A solicitor or barrister qualified in the UK with at least 10 years post-qualification experience. Four appointees will be selected as wing-members and must be able to demonstrate: In-depth knowledge of the sport of athletics and performance levels required to be successful at Major Championships; and/or Recent and relevant experience in the UK sporting sector. ADMINISTRATION The selection of the Selection Appeal Group members will be made by UKA. The Selection Appeal Group, including remuneration, will be administered by Sport Resolutions.
