POSITION SUMMARY : Provide routine health care for day campers and staff and respond to emergency situations requiring medical assistance.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS :
* Evaluating and treating campers' minor injuries and illnesses.
* Identify health problems serious enough to require a physician’s attention.
* Inventory, maintain, and control outflow of all nursing and First Aid supplies.
* Safeguard campers’ prescription medications and administer as arranged.
* Record and maintain records of camper visits and inquiries in medical log.
* Communicate with parents and staff on status of illnesses, injuries and camper concerns.
* Complete insurance forms and appropriate Incident Reports.
* Provide training in preventative health care for staff and campers.
* Maintain camp infirmary / health center.
* Communicate to Camp Director areas for improvement or concerns.
QUALIFICATIONS :
* Must have current and valid LPN or RN license from State of Massachusetts.
* Current CPR and First Aid Certification.
* Experience in building relationships with a wide range of age groups including campers, staff, volunteers, and parents.
* General nursing experience with large numbers of school age children.
* Ability to listen with compassion and concern; demonstrate maturity.
* Ability to respond in professional manner to emergency situations.
