.5 Hours per week Monday- Friday- Hybrid - onsite flexible working
Salary: £,- £, per annum plus car, bonus, and other benefits
Serco Marine services are recruiting for a Head of Docking and Maintenance, repair and overhaul (MRO) role to join the team. This position can be based at either Portsmouth, Devonport, or Clyde as a base on a hybrid basis.
Serco is responsible for the long-term operation of approximately vessels predominantly in the three UK naval ports (Portsmouth, Devonport and Clyde). Vessels are primarily small commercial vessels, such as tugs, passenger transfer boats, workboats and product barges; however, the fleet also includes a small number of larger ocean-going vessels.
Part of Serco’s responsibility is to carry out the necessary maintenance, repair and overhaul (MRO) of these vessels such that they remain suitably operational, safe and compliant with regulation. This role is adjacent to the vessel contract management team and is responsible for docking and MRO strategy, MRO contracting, commercial agreements and programme management. In doing so, the Head of Docking and MRO will be responsible for assessing docking/ MRO options and developing a technically compliant (and commercially advantageous) MRO solution for the lifecycle of the fleet.
The Head of Docking and MRO will deliver a planned maintenance strategy and system, including the definition of internal policies and procedures for implementation. The role is to provide engineering authority for changes to vessels, and decisions on engineering issues, with a primary focus on marine engineering aspects.
Due to periodic contract renewal, a transition in operating model is under way at Serco, of which this new role forms a key part. Serco considers that this will present an opportunity to the successful applicant not only to understand the current functioning of the contract, but also to be able to influence the nature of the role from its commencement.
