Job Advert Location Description:
We are looking for compassionate, motivated and experienced HCAs who are interested in a progression opportunity as a Senior HCA at Priory Arnold. We currently have roles available on Rufford, Clumber & Bestwood wards and are seeking HCAs who would be keen on their next step within their healthcare career. The role consists of supporting the following:
1. Assisting qualified staff with the assessment and implementation of individual patient care plans, undertaking routine tasks and activities as directed to facilitate the wellbeing, dignity, and treatment of all patients.
2. Providing practical support and responsive care to patients who require assistance or other interventions as part of their care and treatment while ensuring compliance with procedures and relevant healthcare legislation.
3. Observing and monitoring the wellbeing of patients, ensuring that any unusual physical, mental, or emotional occurrences are promptly referred to senior staff/the primary nurse and documented as appropriate.
4. Contributing to a team approach to patient care in conjunction with all members of the multidisciplinary team.
5. Being prepared to take on additional responsibilities subject to service need and competence achievement such as Phlebotomy and security measures.
6. Participating in regular ward meetings and attending other meetings as requested.
7. Assisting in the maintenance of stock levels, including pharmaceutical products, not medicines.
8. Assisting in the maintenance of ward cleanliness and tidiness and adhering to infection control policy and procedures at all times.
9. Developing and maintaining a good professional relationship with patients, colleagues, and visitors, responding promptly and courteously to requests and enquiries.
10. Helping promote and maintain an environment conducive to meeting the needs of the patient/relatives and carers.
11. Receiving and conveying information from telephone or personal enquiries in a courteous manner and ensuring all persons visiting the ward are greeted and assisted in a welcoming and supportive manner.
12. Assisting the Ward Manager and Charge Nurses with general administrative duties to ensure that the ward is compliant with the CQC regulated activities.
13. Taking on the role of mentor/buddy to new staff and possibly students.
14. Providing effective and professional leadership to the HCA team, using a mentoring and coaching approach.
15. Taking a lead role on patient care and experience, ensuring care plans are adhered to and the patients' voice is heard and listened to.
16. Leading on providing patients with therapeutic and meaningful engagement and activities on and off the ward alongside 1:1 key worker sessions.
