As Sister / Charge Nurse you will help lead and manage the department so that high quality, evidence based nursing care is delivered to patients and their carers.

Main duties of the job
You will assist with the day-to-day running of the Emergency Department, ensuring the highest possible quality of care is delivered to patients, relatives, and carers who attend.
You will provide assessment, care, and treatment to all patients who present to the Alexandra Emergency Department.
You will support the band 7 in their responsibility for ensuring and maintaining a clinical environment in which care and compassion is constantly demonstrated seven days a week, twenty-four hours a day.
You will maintain and develop your own professional development, including attending all statutory, mandatory, and trust-specific training.
You will use effective communication skills of negotiation, persuasion, and empathy to enable timely and effective communication with your own staff and the wider MDT team and other agencies.

Qualifications
Essential
* Registered Nurse on sub part 1 or 2 of the professional register
* 24 months experience of Emergency Department experience as a band 5.
* Extended clinical skills relevant to the Emergency Department nursing.
* NMC recognised Mentorship qualification or willingness to work towards within 18 months of commencement of post.
* Understanding of policies and legislation relevant to the ED.
Desirable
* Teaching and Assessing Qualification.
* Advance life support trained.
* Trauma Course.
* Experience of managing a team.
