About the role
The role of Senior Infrastructure Engineer is to support the Infrastructure Operations Manager in the smooth day-to-day running of the IT infrastructure.
The successful candidate will have significant experience across networks, platforms, security and all things Infrastructure.
They must act as the terminal escalation point for technical queries from the service desk to assist in resolving Infrastructure incidents in line with SLAs. Incident resolution may involve the use of diagnostics and service management tracking tools, as well as working alongside MSPs and 3rd parties. A strong understanding of industry best practice is expected and a methodical, but pragmatic approach to challenging the status quo is actively encouraged to continue Freeths' journey of streamlining and modernisation in this growing, close-knit team.

Key responsibilities
1. Extensive use of Cloud (Microsoft Azure and Office 365) and virtualisation technologies.
2. Demonstrable knowledge of maintaining virtual and cloud-based server infrastructures.
3. Be responsible for Active Directory, Identity management and authentication into the Freeths IT infrastructure.
4. Responsible for the operation and integrity of the firms' server environment and to ensure that best practice is always adhered to - inclusive of DR arrangements.
5. Provide 3rd line diagnosis and resolution of Infrastructure incidents.
6. To proactively maintain the Windows Server infrastructure.
7. Use trend analysis to prevent future problems and increase availability.
8. Demonstrate a wide-ranging portfolio of technical capabilities, ranging from firewalls and remote access, through virtualised server platforms to end user provisioning.
9. Knowledge, and extensive experience, of WAN/LAN administration including WINS/DNS/DHCP/Group Policy, switching and routing; configuration and installation.
10. Windows Server configuration and administration.
11. Active Directory domain administration including ADFS and Certificate Administration.
12. Ensure you comply with the IT organisation requirements, processes, procedures and policies.
13. Share knowledge and expertise with others, coaching and supporting team members as required and providing specialist support to staff.
14. Assist with systems integrations and testing.
15. Maintaining knowledge items to ensure that they are current, relevant and valid.
16. Ensure that all activities are performed at a consistently high standard, and that opportunities to improve services and processes are identified and actioned.
17. Be security conscious, ensure familiarity and co-operation with all Freeths security policies and procedures.
Your skills and qualifications
Essential Skills/Requirements:
1. Significant proven experience in a similar wide-ranging technical role.
2. Understands the value of discipline and process for delivering repeatable service.
3. Ability to create frameworks for operational performance metrics.
4. Extensive knowledge of Azure and Office 365 suite in an administration and support capacity.
Desirable Skills:
1. Professional services/legal sector experience.
2. Identity and Access Management/Sharepoint Administration.
3. Member of the BCS/other.
4. Degree in a relevant discipline.
5. Holds a Microsoft qualification, either MCSA, MCSE or MCITP (Certifications in one or more Azure disciplines a distinct advantage).
6. Awareness of current/emerging market technology trends and what good service looks like.
7. Ability to recommend and build "secure by design" solutions.
8. Understands technology installations on a multi-site basis.
9. Good analytical skills and organisational abilities to solve problems.
10. Strong Vendor Management skills.
11. Good written and oral communication skills, with strong documentation skills.
12. Ability to effectively prioritise and execute tasks with proven analytical and problem-solving abilities.
13. Keen attention to detail.
14. Highly self-motivated and directed.
15. Strong desire for continuous personal improvement and development of self and others.
16. A people person who can present ideas in a customer-friendly language.
17. Knowledge of ITIL processes experience of working within an ITIL environment.
18. Other relevant technical qualifications.
