Job Title: School Caretaker
Role Duration: Until September, possibly beyond
Salary: £11.50 - £12.50 per hour
Start Date: Immediate (working throughout the summer holidays)
Empowering Learning Teesside is working with a school based in Stockton that is looking for a Site Manager to work at a primary school in the area.
The successful candidate will take pride in how this welcoming school looks and functions and will be able to work strategically when dealing with staff management and health and safety. The ideal school caretaker will have a good range of experience including general DIY, cleaning, and maintenance, and will be able to communicate effectively.
Purpose of the Position
To be responsible for the planning and delivery of all aspects of maintenance and health and safety relating to the school’s buildings and grounds, including maintenance, security, and facilities management on the school premises to ensure a safe environment for staff, pupils, and visitors.
Key Tasks
We require a caretaker/handyman to work in one of our primary schools in Stockton. Your role will include opening and closing the school each evening. This will be a split shift: 6:30 AM - 10:00 AM & 2:00 PM - 6:00 PM.
Supervision
* Supervise a team of premises and cleaning staff, including working with the Business Manager to determine staffing levels, assisting with recruitment and selection, inducting new staff, allocating and organizing workloads, training, and performance management.
Standard Duties
* Assume overall responsibility for the smooth running of the building and supervise any contractors working on site.
* Ensure security is maintained, including managing and maintaining security systems.
* Keep common areas clean and tidy.
* Handle administrative matters related to the management of the building and staff, working closely with the Managing Agent and providing a written building report every fourteen days.
* Monitor contractors around the building and supervise their activities to ensure minimal disturbance.
* Conduct routine checks of the building, including fire alarms, smoke detectors, and fire doors.
* Perform minor maintenance works.
