Job Overview A vacancy has arisen for a flexible Bank Cook on a zero-hour contract to join Humber Teaching NHS Foundation Trust based throughout Hull and East Riding. We are looking for staff that are enthusiastic, motivated and have good interpersonal and communication skills to work as part of our teams. The post will be cooking and serving lunches and evening meals for our Inpatient Units. As well as assisting in maintaining a clean and hygienic environment for patients, trust staff, and visitors in line with the National Standards of Cleanliness. The post holder will require to be flexible and work as part of a team over a 7-day period (including weekends) on a as and when required basis in the provision of a high-quality, cost-effective cooking service in accordance with statutory legislation and Trust Policies regarding Health & Safety and Hygiene. The post holder will need to be able to commute effectively across Trust sites and the geographical area Main duties of the job We are looking for staff that are enthusiastic, motivated and have good interpersonal and communication skills to work as part of a team and generate the provision of a high-quality, cost-effective food service in accordance with statutory legislation and Trust Policies regarding Health & Safety and food Hygiene. As a cook your duties include: preparing food using kitchen equipment such as mixers storing food correctly making sure as little as possible is wasted serving meals to patients As a cook you will prepare meals and follow establishment recipes. Duties include preparing ingredients, adhering to the restaurant menu, and following food health and safety procedures. Cook, clean, assist other cooks and staff and deliver food in a fast-paced environment. Person specification Qualifications And Knowledge Essential criteria Foundation certificate in food hygiene level 2 Knowledge of HACCP and COSHH Understand current Food Safety Legislation Knowledge of textured diets Desirable criteria Demonstration of further qualification interests Full knowledge of cleaning techniques and equipment Manual Handling Experience Essential criteria Experience of the cook freeze system or prime cooking Working knowledge of ordering and Stock Control Desirable criteria Experience of working in Mental Health services and care homes Menu planning Skills And Competencies Essential criteria High standard of personal hygiene Team player as well as being able to work on your own Confident, adaptable, and flexible in approach to working practices Desirable criteria Ability to work under pressure and be able to prioritise/meet deadlines Demonstrate an understanding of the needs of people with mental health problems.
