The Deputy Matron for Medicine is an influential role and is recognized as being crucial to the delivery of Cromwell Hospital’s Strategy.
You’ll support the Modern Matron with their key responsibilities and will manage the nurses across their areas, supporting the Team Leaders to provide safe staffing levels and high-quality nursing care. You will be a role model to the staff, highly visible in their areas ensuring a high level of professionalism is maintained.
What you’ll do:
* Manage the ward/department, Team Leaders, and clinical nurse specialists in assessing the clinical skills required to deliver a safe and quality service.
* Lead on identifying deficits and implement programmes to address the issues.
* Use your knowledge and experience to work with the matron, driving up the standards of clinical care.
* Provide strong leadership to your teams and ensure senior clinical presence on the ward/unit.
* Manage quality improvement initiatives to drive up high-quality clinical care.
* Investigate complex incidents and identify and implement corrective action.
* Act as a change agent and innovator, promoting an effective change culture within nursing teams.
* Work with the Matron in the financial management of the service, being aware of budgets and working within them.
Key Skills / Qualifications
* Registered Nurse Adult/ RN (essential)
* Teaching/assessing qualification (essential)
* Evidence of significant clinical experience in the medical area and ability to function at the required level (essential)
* Knowledge of NMC Codes and guidelines and their implications for practice
* Management qualification or working towards obtaining one.
