We are looking for Staff Captains for work on the English Channel and Irish Sea.
Responsibilities
1. Reports to the Duty Master.
2. To be fully familiarised/type rated in the rank of Chief Officer for all allocated vessels.
3. To manage and co-ordinate all onboard safety & security training under the Master direction to ensure that all Company, Statutory and Port State requirements are complied with fully at all times.
4. To prepare the vessel for Port State and Flag inspection drills.
5. To audit drills and hold de-brief sessions with team leaders to highlight good and weak areas. Organise focussed training in highlighted weak spots.
6. To monitor emergency preparedness onboard vessels to highlight and address with training, any areas requiring attention to the Master.
7. To train department Supervisors and Heads of Department to familiarise their own department. To monitor such training and develop the senior officers as trainers.
8. To assist MSQ Manager and MATRIX Management Ltd with Safety Inspections and annual ISM / ISPS audits (internal & external).
9. Any other Marine, Safety, Security or Training project as directed by the Operations Director or MSQ Manager.
In addition to the above, the Staff Captain is directed that following successful completion of a Ship Handling Simulator Course, the following training should be completed under the guidance and instruction of the Master following the Company approved training scheme:
1. Pilot Exemption Training leading to obtaining a Pilot Exemption Certificate.
2. Ship Handling Training to facilitate docking and undocking the vessel in conjunction with obtaining a Pilot Exemption Certificate.
3. Development training by the Masters in the management of the vessel to prepare officers for ‘Command’ duties in a Relief Master position.
Minimum Requirements
1. Class 1 Master Mariner Foreign Going.
2. Proficient in spoken and written English.
3. Right to work in the UK or EU.
Experience
At least 3 years at Chief Officer level in passenger ships.
