About us
Our mission is to deliver joy in every shop, through unbeatable choice, unrivalled service and reassuringly good value.
We’re Ocado Retail, a market-leading, joint venture between Ocado Group and M&S and the world’s largest dedicated online supermarket. Not only is Ocado.com the only place to shop a full range of M&S food online, it’s also the home to the widest online supermarket range in the UK and champion of small, independent brands. We’re also the brains behind, our same-day grocery delivery service.
About the role
This is an exciting opportunity to join a high growth area of Ocado Retail - our retail media team; Ocado Ads. Ocado Retail already has a mature supplier advertising proposition, but is looking to significantly expand this by opening new advertising channels for suppliers, while leveraging the latest ad technologies.
This role will be leading in two areas of that transformation, i) the roll out of media planning across the commercial team and ii) taking new propositions to hit commercial targets associated with new budgets across brands and agencies. This is a management role, with a team of 4-6, so evidence leading through others is critical.
With the retail media team growing at Ocado, this role is for someone who can not only deliver and execute in the short term, but also play a key role in the longer term transformation plans. It is an extremely exciting time to join Ocado where innovation, startup mentality and personal drive is highly championed and rewarded.
The ideal candidate should have experience working with large FMCG companies to help identify the right media opportunities (e.g. as an Account Manager), have a good understanding of digital media (on retailer website and off retailer website), be a self-starter to help identify business opportunities, and able to thrive in a fast-paced environment.
What you’ll do
1. Own and deliver two areas of our growing retail media operation; planning and sales, sitting as part of the Ocado Ads Leadership Team, reporting to the Head of Ocado Ads
2. Be an external thought leader in the retail media industry, representing Ocado at all levels across ad tech, brands and agencies.
3. Be responsible for the business transformation associated with rolling out a new planning function, delivering blueprints for how planning will look and feel in the future at Ocado.
4. Manage a pipeline of opportunities across a media toolkit specifically designed for brands and media agencies, working with your direct reports to systematically hit revenue targets.
5. Develop and deliver effective go-to-market strategies across new managed service and self-serve solutions.
6. Prospect, pitch and convert proposals, owning the sales cycle independently and being able to refine the Ocado advertising value proposition to relevant stakeholders.
7. Own the relationship with all large agency groups, taking what makes Ocado Ads special to this evolving area of media agencies and retail media.
8. Awareness of competing solutions in the retail media market and beyond to best deal with challenges from suppliers on why to invest with Ocado.
Who you are
9. Proven track record of independently building successful end-to-end media plans, leveraging digital channels
10. Experience of working with all objectives within full marketing funnel
11. Project management skills to oversee roll out of created media plans, ability to collaborate well with cross-functional teams to ensure best in class delivery
12. Experience in owning and growing sizeable yearly budgets, with clear revenue reporting and forecasting back to business
13. Ability to work and thrive in a fast-paced environment
14. Excited to problem-solve on new topics (our team is trying to define the frontier of retail media - so some questions will have no standard industry answers)
15. Ownership attitude - able to identify new issues and help solve from start to finish
