We have an exciting opportunity at Ash Grange Nursery and Primary School for a Clerk to support our Governor's meetings. Meetings are currently held on Tuesday mornings 8am – 9.30 for committee meetings and 8-10am for FGB meetings. The role is part time, and over the year will be approximately 70 hours per year. Salary £24,275, pro rata/£16-20 hour depending on experience..51 hours per year which covers:
3 FGB meetings a year, one per term – 6 hours per meeting (2 for prep, 2 for attendance and 2 for write up of minutes and related matters) = 6 hours per term, 18 hours a year;
3 committee meetings a term- 6 hours per meeting (1 for prep, 1.5 for attendance and 2 for write up of minutes and related matters) = 4.5 a meeting; 13.5 a term, 40.5 hours per year;
Maintenance of GVO site for governors 1-2 hours per half term = 12 hours per year
The role requires:
Accurate minute taking
Proactive support with agenda setting, management of documents and support to governors
E-mailing and posting on-line the agenda and all supporting paperwork
Attendance at meetings to take minutes and provide advice on governance issues, when required
The preparation, amendment and issuing of the minutes within 14 days of the meeting
General administrative support for the board including timetabling its work, monitoring policy reviews, assisting with governor recruitment, maintaining an accurate record of its membership, keeping a register of governor interests and their attendance at meetings, dealing with correspondence and maintaining records.
Knowledge and experience of schools and governance is desirable but not essential. If you are an experienced Clerk, we would love to hear from you. We'd also love to hear from you if you have:
Strong organisational and IT skills
Good interpersonal and communication skills
Experience at minute taking in confidential meetings with a wide range of attendees
