Key Role Requirements:
1. Ensuring works are carried out within budget with effective cost control measures.
2. Managing the installation on the project by planning the works within program, resourcing labour effectively and ensuring a quality installation.
3. Ensure all technical information is available when required for the delivery of design and/or construction.
4. Prevention and early identification and resolution of non-conformance.
5. Effective communication of technical issues between project management, and other functions/support services within the project team.
6. Application of engineering principles in the preparation of calculations/drawings/sketches and resolution of engineering challenges within specific knowledge areas.
7. Implementing engineering systems, documentation and controls by compliance with Health & Safety legislation, Company and industry standards.
8. Checking of drawings/specifications.
9. Technical input when required into services, products and subcontractors.
10. Effective supervision and guidance to less experienced engineering staff.
Key Deliverables and Accountabilities:
Safety, Health, Environment & Sustainability:
1. Aware of the Safety Management System (SMS).
2. Aware of the requirements of the safe working procedures such as confined spaces, hot works etc.
3. Ensures work is carried out in accordance with safe systems of work, method statements, risk assessments and task sheets.
4. Follows safe working practices including wearing personal protective equipment and demonstrates a duty of care to yourself and others.
5. Immediate reporting of technical problems and unsafe situations.
Dimensional/Spatial Control:
1. Provides dimensional control for a section of the works.
2. Ability and experience of developing off-site fabricated solutions with the digital modelling team.
3. Undertakes as-built surveys for a section of the works and presents results in format that can be included in project records if required.
4. Checks dimension design data early, raising technical queries to eliminate delays from insufficient information.
Workmanship, Quality, Inspection & Testing:
1. Complies with project and company quality procedures.
2. Understands the specification requirements and how they will be achieved.
3. Produces and implements Inspection and Test Plans (ITP) that correctly interpret the specified quality requirements.
4. Raises Non-Conformance Report (NCR) for all non-conformances and reports potential non-conformances.
Information, Change Control & Records:
1. Marks up drawings & specifications with any changes referencing the documentation that verifies the change.
2. Interrogates design information and determines if there are sufficient details to construct the works.
People Management:
1. Ability and experience in successfully managing and measuring performance against project planned performance outputs.
2. Ensuring staff are properly trained, ensuring they understand what is required of them.
Desired Experience:
1. Nuclear sector and/or regulated environment experience preferred.
2. Recognised industry qualifications in relevant discipline, either trade or academic.
3. Good communication skills both orally and in writing.
