Nuclera is a venture-backed, founder-driven biotech company headquartered in Cambridge, UK with significant operations in Boston, USA. We are beginning this mission through the launch of our eProtein Discovery platform. eProtein Discovery is a breakthrough protein expression, characterization, and purification technology, consisting of a lab-based benchtop instrument, cloud-based software and proprietary cartridges and consumables. The goal is to enable rapid protein access to life science researchers around the world.
As a Manufacturing and Test Engineer, you will play a pivotal role in supporting and developing the manufacture of our eProtein Discovery instrument. You will focus on process improvements, testing strategies, and quality assurance to ensure we deliver world-class products. This is a hands-on role that requires technical expertise, problem-solving skills, and a commitment to continuous improvement.
About the role
* Identify and remove bottlenecks in the production process to improve efficiency and scalability while reducing variability.
* Run Factory Acceptance Tests (FAT) for instruments and refine testing strategies as part of continuous improvement initiatives. Design and build test fixtures to support instrument testing and validation.
* Foster a culture of quality by taking ownership of instrument QA processes. React quickly to non-conformances by driving Corrective and Preventive Actions (CAPAs) to ensure timely resolution.
* Write and review process documentation to standardize procedures and reduce product variation. Support ongoing training activities to ensure team members are equipped with the latest knowledge and skills.
* Work closely with Software, Field Application Specialists (FAS), and other teams to ensure seamless product development and delivery. Collaborate with Product Development to support the transition of new products from development to manufacturing.
Minimum Requirements
* 5+ years of experience in instrument manufacture/test
* Strong analytical and problem solving skills
* Experience of working within a Quality Management System (QMS)
Desirable Qualifications
* Bachelor's degree or equivalent experience
* Six Sigma Green Belt certification (or above)
* Proficiency in SolidWorks for design and prototyping
* Experience with programming languages (e.g. Python) for test automation or data analysis
* Familiarity with ERP systems for production planning and inventory management
