Patient Transport Volunteer Driver (Crawley and Redhill)
We are currently recruiting in Crawley and Redhill, on the Sussex and Surrey boarder
Our Patient Transport Volunteer Driver’s support our Patient Transport Service. The volunteer’s focus is on ensuring patients in their community are able to access local hospitals to attend medical appointments by providing a friendly, safe and reliable service. By joining our volunteer team, you are helping patients at an essential moment in their treatment, providing them with a reassuring arm and assisting them in a time of need.
We are looking for volunteers to volunteer early in the morning and in the evening returning patients to their home addresses, but we offer flexible volunteering, so you can offer as little or as much as you like, whilst fitting in with other commitments. If you are able to assist us on weekdays or have a Saturday morning or evening to assist our patients in getting to and from their appointments. We will always have journeys that you can support us with. This role will keep you fit and active and many of our Volunteers say they are ‘proud to give back and support the NHS’.
Our Sussex patients attend treatment for renal dialysis on Saturdays and require transport to and from their appointments. This is a great opportunity to familiarise yourself with the service and provide a moment of your time. You may find that you have a few evenings a week which you would like to dedicate to volunteering for our service.Do you believe you have the time and dedication to join our group of Patient Transport Volunteers? Our volunteers come from many different backgrounds, but all have a common bond in wanting to give something back to their communities. No previous experience is required just a friendly caring attitude, use of your own five door car and spare time. In doing so you can give patients peace of mind, while they face challenging periods in their lives. Giving them the reassurance that they will arrive to appointments or treatment with a friendly face.
Brenda, a renal dialysis patient said "Come rain or shine, I know I can depend on my regular Patient Transport Volunteer, it's nice to see a friendly and familiar face, when having to go in and out of the hospital for treatment". Another patient, Daniel who attends daily appointments for chemotherapy informed us "Knowing that I have a volunteer driver that does the majority of my journeys for treatment, gives me peace of mind, the volunteers are supportive and understanding. I'm extremely grateful".
