Occupational Therapist
* Location: South West London
* Job Type: Part-time (2-3 days per week), Fixed Term Contract until the end of the academic year
* Salary: £14,628.40 - £17,658 (pro-rata)
We are seeking a dedicated Occupational Therapist to join our Inclusive Learning team at a Further Education college in South West London. This role is crucial in supporting students to access their courses successfully, integrate socially, and maintain emotional wellbeing. The position offers flexible working days from Tuesday to Friday and is a fixed-term contract until the end of the academic year.
Day-to-day of the role:
* Conduct holistic occupational therapy assessments and develop person-centred interventions to enhance learners’ functional skills across the curriculum.
* Address sensory, behavioural, and motor coordination challenges in various environmental settings to help students achieve optimal function and autonomy.
* Understand and mitigate the impact of sensory differences on a person’s function and behaviour.
* Facilitate the transfer of skills developed at college to home and community/work settings.
* Provide support and training to all staff regarding the implementation of occupational therapy recommendations.
* Collaborate with learners’ families, carers, and community health and social care teams to provide comprehensive support.
Required Skills & Qualifications:
* Qualified Occupational Therapist, registered with the Health and Care Professions Council (HCPC).
* Experience in working within educational settings, particularly with students who have diverse learning needs.
* Strong understanding of sensory integration and its impact on learning and behaviour.
* Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, capable of working collaboratively with students, staff, and external partners.
* Commitment to a person-centred approach, promoting choice, independence, and inclusion.
