Multiskilled Vehicle Technician Location: Peterborough Salary: Up to £52,000 OTE (including site bonus), depending on experience and qualifications Shift: Monday to Friday, 8:00 AM - 5:00 PM (30-minute lunch break) Overview The Multiskilled Technician will be responsible for working across multiple areas of vehicle repair including MET (Mechanical, Electrical & Trim), Panel, and Paint. This role involves dismantling, repairing, and reassembling damaged vehicles in line with repair estimates, ensuring high-quality results, and adhering to all safety standards. The technician will work independently or supervise non-qualified staff where applicable, ensuring all tasks are completed within the given time frames. Duties & Responsibilities MET (Mechanical, Electrical & Trim): Dismantle and rebuild vehicles to meet repair estimates, ensuring all safety-related items and materials are within use-by dates. Complete work within estimated timescales, performing quality checks in line with company procedures. Advise the Line Manager of any additional work identified during vehicle repairs. Ensure parts are ordered as per the estimate to prevent delays and return unused parts for credit. Report any deviations from the estimate or methods to the estimator immediately. Supervise non-qualified staff to ensure work meets company standards. Maintain a clean and safe working environment in line with housekeeping and health & safety regulations. Panel: Repair or replace damaged panels as required, ensuring all work adheres to safety standards and manufacturer specifications. Operate jigs, fixtures, and welding equipment as per prescribed safety standards. Handle all vehicles with care, maintaining a high standard of customer care and satisfaction. Follow manufacturer instructions and update skills through training courses as necessary. Paint: Prepare vehicles for painting, including masking, sanding, and other necessary pre-paintwork tasks. Spray paint vehicles to a high standard, ensuring colour match and finish meet company and customer expectations. Follow all prescribed safety procedures and wear necessary safety gear. Stay up to date on product developments and techniques through regular training courses. Skills & Qualifications A minimum of 3 years’ experience as a Technician in MET, Panel, or Paint (essential). ATA accreditation is preferred. Strong knowledge of vehicle repair processes, including mechanical, electrical, and bodywork. Ability to work independently and supervise non-qualified technicians. Attention to detail to ensure work is completed to a high standard. Good communication skills and the ability to report effectively on work completed or issues identified. Ability to work to tight deadlines while ensuring quality standards are met. Knowledge of health and safety procedures in a workshop environment.
