We’re looking for a Retail Team Member to welcome visitors to the National Trust shop at Hardwick Hall.
Hardwick Hall is one of the National Trust's discovery houses in Derbyshire. Built by the infamous Bess of Hardwick in the 1500s, it is a leading example of an Elizabethan house. The estate currently attracts more than 400,000 visitors a year and the Stables Shop is going from strength to strength.
With your love of working with people and desire to provide a great service, you'll welcome and talk to our visitors to the shop answering any questions they have.
Salary: £12.25 per hour
Contract/duration: 6 months
Hours/working pattern: 18.75 hours per week over 3 days, weekend and weekday work.
For this role, you’ll need to complete our online assessment instead of using a C.V. or online application form. This will help us understand more about your strengths and give you more information on the role.
What it's like to work here
You would be part of a team of 9 staff, plus our volunteers who help with our retail and plant offer. Reporting to the Retail Manager, you will be fully supported, helping you to integrate into the team and learn about all the products that we sell and the stories behind them. Every day can be different, with the main aim being to provide a warm and inviting environment to all our visitors.
What you'll be doing
As a member of the retail team, you’ll be offering visitors help and advice with their shopping. You’ll have high standards of presentation in the shop while providing excellent service to all customers.
You’ll also be able to talk to them about how everything they buy helps to fund the work of the National Trust. Other duties may include arranging, receiving and unpacking deliveries, creating shop displays, and working with others in the team to keep the shop floor clean and organised.
Who we're looking for
We’d love to hear from you if you’re:
1. focused on giving great service to everyone you meet
2. a team player, but also happy to work on your own initiative
3. well-organised and adaptable
4. willing to learn new skills.
