To meet the challenges of today and tomorrow we are seeking highly motivated and resourceful communicators to join our in-house Corporate Communications Team. The Corporate Communications Officer roles are new within the team and we are looking for a range of communications skills to support our ambitions.
You will be a confident communicator with excellent written and verbal communication skills and experience of implementing a communications strategy. Reporting directly to the Senior Corporate Communications Manager you will support the development of public trust and confidence in North Yorkshire Police. This role requires the capability of working across a number of corporate communications disciplines to ensure that both the public and our employees are well-informed and engaged: internal; external; and digital. You will be joining an experienced team of professional communications who will support your development. When trained and capable you will join the Corporate Communications on-call rota which provides 24/7 support for the force in managing critical incidents.
Role scope:
Support the development and enhancement of the reputation of NYP in the interests of public trust and confidence.
Develop and implement communications plans encompassing media relations, public engagement and campaigns, social media, digital communications and internal communications which deliver force objectives.
Support the alignment of our communications with the strategic direction of the force.
Advise and support operational policing on the development of effective and timely communications to prevent and detect crime and promote public safety, including in crisis situations.
Promote transparency and legitimacy through the information that is provided to the public and by providing answers to media questions about the service.
Provide an efficient communications service to NYP as a whole seeking and applying opportunities to share workforce messages and bringing creativity and technical expertise to every project.
Responsible for delivering effective communications products and campaigns that deliver operational and corporate objectives.
Requirements:
To be successful you will be:
Educated to degree level in a relevant discipline or have equivalent professional communications experience or qualifications.
Capable of working independently under extreme pressure against tight deadlines and with competing priorities. You are confident in taking the initiative and applying best judgement to provide advice and resolve competing issues.
Competent in Adobe and Microsoft packages and have strong writing skills.
Able to tackle difficult and complex subjects to develop clear, concise engaging and effective content appropriate to the audience and channel.
Confident in developing trusting relationships as the basis for providing professional advice to stakeholders.
