Our client, a pioneering leader in the automotive industry, is currently seeking a Telemetry Engineer (RF & Electronics Race Support) to join their team. Key Responsibilities: Support in the design and development of a new telemetry system, including data loggers and telemetry radios throughout the testing phase, with significant input into the system design, field validation, and deployment. You will attend approximately 30% of events during this phase. Collaborate with other engineering and operational teams to provide field support, ensuring the telemetry systems meet performance and reliability requirements, and assist in the installation, commissioning, and operation of telemetry systems at racetracks and test events. Maintain and support both the current and new telemetry systems, including troubleshooting and liaising with FIA, Teams, and internal senior stakeholders during events. Troubleshoot and resolve telemetry system problems both on track and in the garage, monitoring and analysing telemetry data to identify performance issues and areas for improvement. Stay abreast of the latest telemetry technologies and best practices, recommending new technologies and approaches to keep the telemetry system at the forefront of technology. Job Requirements: Degree level education or equivalent vocational and industry experience in electronics engineering or a suitable equivalent such as mechatronics. Understanding of systems engineering principles, including requirements analysis, system architecture, and system verification and validation, with experience in embedded systems development and support, especially the full lifecycle. Experience in designing or deploying/operating RF-based telemetry systems. Excellent planning skills, with the ability to prioritise and multitask effectively. Ability to write comprehensive technical design documentation including requirement specifications, test plans, and test reports. Willing to travel extensively internationally throughout the year. Desirable Skills: Experience working with networking and serial protocols (e.g., Ethernet, CAN, RS232), video encoding (e.g., H264), and transmission protocols (e.g., MPEG-TS), and RF systems. Experience with electronics hardware, software, and design principles. Developing Linux kernel drivers or for an RTOS. Experience within the motorsport industry. Knowledge of data acquisition and analysis software.
