Behaviour Teaching Assistant Location: Scarborough, North Yorkshire Start Date: ASAP Salary: £83 - £100 per day Contract Type: Full-Time GSL Education’s North Yorkshire branch is currently looking to recruit dedicated and compassionate Behaviour Teaching Assistants to work with students aged 8 to 16 who have social, emotional and mental health needs (SEMH) in Scarborough, North Yorkshire. They are dedicated to ensuring every student is utilising and succeeding in academic and career-related learning opportunities. The school places a high priority on helping students learn self-regulation so they can manage their emotions, behaviours, and reactions in a healthy and flexible way. They also emphasise the development of self-reflection, helping students assess their decisions, behaviours, and experiences and apply this knowledge to develop and get better. Behaviour Teaching Assistant Responsibilities: Provide 1:1 and small group support to students with social, emotional and mental health needs (SEMH). Help students manage their behaviour and access learning in a safe, supportive, and inclusive environment. Assist class teachers in implementing behaviour management plans. Build trusting relationships and rapport with students to help re-engage them with their learning in a safe and caring environment. Promote emotional well-being and flexibility through active listening, encouragement, and tailored support. Behaviour Teaching Assistant Requirements: Have experience working with children or young people with SEMH challenges, SEN, or similar needs. Be knowledgeable about different complex needs, associated learning difficulties and challenging behaviours. Possess excellent communication, empathy, and interpersonal skills. Have knowledge of behaviour management and de-escalation techniques, or a willingness to learn. Have an Enhanced Child Only or Child and Adult DBS registered to the update service or be willing to apply for one through GSL Education.
