This is a brilliant opportunity to work as part of the MEH Alliance on the prestigious Hinkley Point C Nuclear project. The alliance works across the project to integrate and coordinate the delivery of all main Mechanical, Electrical, Heating, Ventilation and Air-Conditioning (MEH), cabling and associated support services. This innovative approach will help different contractors work as a single entity to deliver the complex installation of cabling and pipework in the power station’s vast network of rooms.
The role
As a Senior Quantity Surveyor, you’ll have a role that’s out of the ordinary. Being part of the MEH Alliance working on Hinkley Point C is a chance to be involved in a major project with national significance. You will be leading a team of Quantity Surveyors and Apprentices to commercially deliver services and Work Task Orders on site at Hinkley Point C from ‘kick-off’ meetings to final account.
Day-to-day, you’ll be responsible for monitoring and reporting, preparing cost advice, drafting contract communications including Early Warning Notices and Compensation Events, and assisting with audit and cost verification events; all integral towards driving commercial performance of various contracts within the scope of the Alliance.
* Provide commercial support on site to Multi-Disciplinary Teams
* Assist with the audit and cost verification activities including close out of Task Order of Defined Cost
* Prepare field change Cost Advice for the Area
* Ensure compliant management of scope change; all Compensation Events (CEs) are validated and recorded in CEMAR.
* Review the weekly cost report from Power BI for responsible Task Orders and alert any discrepancies to Commercial Lead
* Support and foster a positive Nuclear Safety Culture (NSC)
This role is full time, thirty-seven hours per week, and is based at Hinkley Point C, near Bridgwater providing hybrid working arrangements with three days in the office/on site and two days working from home.
Essential experience of the Senior Quantity Surveyor
* Proven track record in large-scale projects, leading teams with a “can do” attitude preferably in the nuclear or similar regulated sector
* Working knowledge of NEC contracts and contract management software (CEMAR)
* Experienced in facilitating client audit of Defined Cost and providing record / cost verification
* Ability to make decisions within delegated authority and prioritise team workload
* Experience in working in a joint ventures/alliance environment is desirable
Qualifications for the Senior Quantity Surveyor
* Preferably educated to degree level in a relevant subject (e.g. RICS or construction management) or equivalent level qualification or relevant experience.
