We are looking to hire a Head of Data Engineering to lead the data engineering function for our cloud-based gaming platform and help transform Push Gaming into a data-driven organisation. This covers a wide range of solutions including back office search & reporting functionality, business intelligence, real-time data streaming, and the creation of ETL pipelines to process and transform large volumes of data.
Location: remote/hybrid in UK, Poland, Malta or Spain.
Salary: Negotiable, depending on experience.
What you'll be doing:
* Recruit, onboard and manage engineers to provide data solutions for our cross-functional platform teams, ensuring sufficient capacity to achieve the company’s goals.
* Identify and implement suitable training for data engineers.
* Work with the Data Product Owner to understand the company’s data requirements and design high-level data architectures to support these.
* Provide technical input and guidance for teams carrying out data engineering activities and project planning.
* Promote and document best practices; contribute to the ongoing formation of the data engineering function’s processes and skill sets.
* Assist with team code reviews to ensure all solutions developed meet the required standards.
* Monitor compliance with necessary information security policies and regulatory requirements for data management.
* Recommend ways to improve data reliability, efficiency, and quality.
* Identify areas of technical debt and work with the platform teams to address them.
What you'll bring:
* A minimum of 5 years in a senior data role.
* Experience dealing with large volumes of data in the order of 100+ GB/day from multiple operational data stores.
* Experience in recruitment, line management & mentoring.
* Proficiency in Python & Spark.
* Experience in implementing event-driven data pipelines in AWS (other cloud platforms will be considered).
* Experience in implementing Kafka streaming applications.
* Knowledge of RDBMS and NoSQL data stores.
* Experience in testing serverless applications in a cloud-based environment.
* Familiarity with infrastructure-as-code and configuration-as-code, preferably Terraform.
* Experience in source code management such as Git.
* Knowledge of continuous integration and deployment techniques.
* Experience in architecture documentation.
