This is a pivotal leadership role for a passionate and skilled individual who is committed to ensuring outstanding provision for students with Special Educational Needs and Disabilities (SEND). The Role: The Assistant Principal (SENDCo) will play a crucial role in shaping and delivering an inclusive education strategy, ensuring that all students receive the support they need to thrive academically and personally. They will be responsible for: Leading and managing the SEND provision across the school. Developing and implementing the SEND strategy in line with national guidelines and the Trust’s vision. Ensuring compliance with the SEND Code of Practice and statutory requirements. Overseeing EHCP (Education, Health, and Care Plan) processes and coordinating with external agencies. Providing expert guidance and training to staff on inclusive teaching strategies. Leading a team of support staff, including Teaching Assistants and specialist SEND practitioners. Monitoring and evaluating the impact of interventions and support plans. Fostering a culture of high expectations and inclusion for all students. Person Specification: The successful candidate will: Be a qualified teacher with QTS (Qualified Teacher Status). Hold or be working towards the National Award for SEN Coordination (NASENCo). Have significant experience working with students with SEND, ideally in a leadership capacity. Demonstrate an in-depth understanding of SEND legislation and best practices. Have a track record of successfully improving SEND provision and student outcomes. Be an excellent communicator with the ability to build strong relationships with students, staff, parents, and external agencies.
