Teacher Active is working with a diverse and inclusive secondary school committed to supporting the holistic development of their students. They are looking for compassionate and dedicated Pastoral Support Assistants (PSAs) to work closely with individual students and small groups to provide much-needed emotional, social, and behavioral support. Their mission is to help students navigate personal challenges and succeed both in and out of the classroom.
As a Pastoral Support Assistant, you will:
* Provide 1:1 and small group support to secondary-aged students in need of pastoral care.
* Assist in the development and implementation of individual pastoral plans, working closely with students, families, and staff.
* Offer emotional and behavioural guidance to help students overcome personal challenges, including mental health, bullying, family issues, and more.
* Create a safe and nurturing environment where students feel listened to, valued, and supported.
* Collaborate with the school’s pastoral team, safeguarding lead, and teachers to ensure students' well-being is a top priority.
* Monitor students' progress, adapting support strategies as needed.
* Help foster resilience, confidence, and social skills in students to improve their overall school experience.
What We Are Looking For:
* A passion for working with young people, particularly those in need of emotional and pastoral support.
* Previous experience in a pastoral, mentoring, or support role (experience in a secondary school setting is desirable).
* Strong interpersonal and communication skills, with the ability to build trust and rapport with students.
* Patience, empathy, and a calm approach to helping students through challenging situations.
* An understanding of safeguarding, confidentiality, and professional boundaries.
* A proactive and flexible approach, able to work both independently and as part of a wider pastoral team.
