The Engineering Team Lead (Electrical/Mechanical Systems Engineering) manages the delivery of Engineering Work Packages/Tasks agreed with a Chief Engineer/Programme Manager (or equivalent) to meet overall Programme and Business Objectives reporting to the Chief Engineer (of the same programme). You will draw on your Electrical/Mechanical Systems engineering background and product lifecycle awareness to progress a variety of NPI projects, supporting in building a new team and providing leadership to a small team of approximately eight to ten colleagues.
This is a very exciting opportunity. You will be an integral member of the team embarking on a significant technology development project. This four-year project will be a major steppingstone towards achieving the next generation of avionics for customer Tilt-Rotors. The project will operate from our GKN facilities in Cowes, Isle of Wight, with a requirement for international travel within Europe and to the U.S. (approximately every two months). We offer hybrid working, the opportunity to work from home up to two days per week dependent on business needs.
Job Accountabilities
1. Deliver Engineering deliverables, meeting the applicable Technical Requirements against agreed Schedule and Cost Objectives.
2. Implement and execute cost and schedule Control: NRC Planning, Tracking / Control and Reporting through Earned Value Management.
3. Support Chief Engineer in execution of program risk management by identifying technical risks and determining associated Mitigation Actions.
4. Initiate corrective measures in case of deviations from planned schedule and budget objectives.
5. Manage change and scope control.
6. Provide day-to-day operational management to engineering project team.
7. Identify work packages suitable for Off-load to external Suppliers including drafting statements of work.
8. Generate technical reports and presentations.
9. Manage and develop requirements and specifications.
What You'll Bring
Essential:
1. HND, or Degree in Electrical, Mechanical, or Systems Engineering.
2. Experience in technical project leadership including developing and coaching people.
3. Experience specifying and developing electrical/electronic systems.
4. Experience in the mechanical design, integration and test of the electrical/electronic systems.
Desirable:
1. Experience in the Aerospace industry.
2. Completed Project Management Training / Courses.
3. Experience in CATIA v5, or similar.
4. Proficiency in RBE tools, e.g. DOORS.
5. Experience in Torquemeter Sensor Systems/Sensor Systems.
