We have an exciting opportunity for an experienced and motivated midwife to join our leadership team as the Clinical Lead for Antenatal Newborn Screening and Fetal Medicine working at both our Luton and Dunstable, and Bedford Hospital sites of Bedfordshire Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust.
This is a progressive time for our cross-site maternity services that provide maternity care for 9000 women per year. We are progressing our delivery of our 2024-2029 Maternity Strategy, which sees the commencement of a new digital Electronic Programme Record system in 2025 and, on our Luton site, we prepare for our upcoming move into the brand new maternity facilities in the Autumn of 2025. Luton has a high-level comprehensive service including an Obstetric physician, Fetal medicine Unit and a Level 3 NICU. We have a wonderful team of medical, midwifery, nursing and support worker and MNVP colleagues all working together to deliver safe, responsive and effective care to those who use our services.
You will have a proven track record as a compassionate leader able to deliver all the elements of the portfolio as a matron.

Main duties of the job
The post holder will lead on quality issues and be responsible for the implementation, administration and monitoring of antenatal and newborn screening programmes and fetal medicine department with responsibility for performance management of key indicators. The post holder will have a high profile, be an accessible and responsive leader who is able to make informed decisions within their own area and scope of professional practice, involving pregnant women and other stakeholders to ensure agreed standards and targets are met.

Person Specification
Qualifications
* Registered Midwife
* Recognised teaching qualification
* Evidence of post registration development
* Masters degree or working towards in a similar subject
Knowledge and Experience
* Substantial experience in a senior midwifery role at Band 7
* Extensive clinical experience
* In depth knowledge of antenatal high risk pathways
* Evidence of the application of management/leadership skills and autonomous practice
* Experience of working in partnership with multi-disciplinary team members
* Implementing complex change in a clinical setting
* Knowledge of current developments in nursing and the NHS
* Counselling skills.
Personal Skills
* Ability to take managerial and professional responsibility for team and staff.
* Demonstrate good leadership and organisation skills.
