An exciting opportunity has arisen to work in the Radiology Department.
We are looking for an 'amazing' Radiology Appointments Officer to work within a team of dedicated staff within the Radiology Department.
This role will primarily be based at Halton Hospital/Captain Sir Tom Moore building.
The successful candidate will need to always provide high level customer service and possess excellent communication skills. Excellent interpersonal skills are an essential part of this role.
She/he will be expected to cover Reception duties, be responsible for providing a central service for the scheduling of all Radiology appointments by ensuring compliance with IR(MR)R, RCR guidelines, Trust, and Department guidelines/protocols. Communicating with patients, consultants, and staff at all levels and possessing the ability to empathise with patients and relatives regarding procedures and appointments.
Knowledge of the CRIS and Lorenzo system would be an advantage, but this is not essential as training will be given on the job.
The candidate must have a flexible approach to working hours to meet service level requirements and will be required to work at Warrington and Halton Hospitals (both sites) to suit service needs. The core hours will be Monday-Friday 8am-8pm with a requirement of weekend working on a rotational basis to support the departmental schedules.
Main duties of the job
1. To maintain a comprehensive radiological examination appointment system for the Department by ensuring all appointment requests are accurately input onto the x-ray system in a timely manner, in line with Trust and Government guidelines.
2. To undertake a comprehensive search of systems to cross-reference patient examinations to ensure no duplicate requests are input and ensure patient demographic data is accurate.
3. Where appropriate, to ensure requests are verified by x-ray consultants and clinical leads prior to the appointing and providing print outs of previous reports to facilitate this process.
4. Take action as necessary to ensure patient DNAs are recorded and dealt with in line with Trust protocols.
5. To encompass and utilize new technologies as and when they become operational.
6. Regular communication with Wards, GPs, and outpatients using written and verbal communication regarding servicing/breakdown of rooms etc., which will affect patient diagnosis.
7. Regular direct communication with GPs, Consultants, Ward, and patients regarding diagnostic procedures whilst maintaining confidentiality at all times.
