About this role
This role sits within our Real Estate sector which works with market leaders in commercial real estate to develop innovative global zero carbon strategies. Our clients are building owners, real estate investors and developers and our services are shaped to help them transition to a net zero economy.
Our Deliver for Zero service acts on clients’ net zero strategic aspirations, breaking them down into implementable carbon/energy action plans and projects. You work directly with clients to turn their aims into a reality through site audits, monitoring and proposing short-term data solutions to optimise efficiency.
As a Consultant, you bring experienced capability to the technical delivery of complex energy management and building optimisation projects for Verco’s Real Estate clients. By engaging with a wide range of key stakeholders on a day-to-day basis, you’re able to impact the management of sustainability risks and realise opportunities.
As part of our Deliver for Zero team, you contribute to and manage projects that cover the following services:
1. Readiness assessment of client organisations to deliver sustainable savings.
2. Identifying and prioritising the most cost-effective opportunities, including technological, behavioural and process optimisation initiatives.
3. Supporting and building compelling business cases for achieving staged and pragmatic energy and cost reduction.
4. Delivering services and opportunities, with a guaranteed outcome and savings verified.
Project Management: You support and manage a range of building optimisation and energy reduction projects at real estate sites and ensure successful delivery to the client on time, to quality and within an agreed budget.
Technical input: You provide technical input to projects, including data analytics, modelling and strategic insights as required for the delivery of our range of services.
Business development and proposal writing: You develop business by either increasing the value of existing accounts or by supporting more senior members of the team in targeted business development activities such as writing proposals and/or delivering technical webinars.
Client management: You maintain strong relationships with existing clients and build lasting relationships with new clients with the expectation of continuing and, where possible, increasing revenues from key accounts.
Operational: You provide timely responses to operational needs including invoicing, reviews, project management information, time-sheets, health & safety, etc.
Environmental: You contribute to Verco’s sustainability targets and internal CSR team objectives when required.
Here are the key things you need to be able to demonstrate, plus some others that are great to have but not essential:
Essential:
1. Chartered Engineer status
2. Member of professional institutions (e.g., IChemE)
3. Managing complex projects
4. Energy management and auditing including onsite deep dive assessments
5. Development of net zero pathways
6. Supporting bids and delivering proposals
Desirable:
1. Contributing to new business development
2. Facilitating and presenting at workshops/seminars
Essential technical knowledge includes:
1. Energy use in buildings (e.g., boilers, HVAC, lighting, motors and drives, building management systems)
2. Metering, Monitoring & Targeting
3. Electrical infrastructure & systems
4. Process Optimisation
5. Heat Recovery Systems
6. Policy framework (e.g., CCA, ESOS, EUETS, IPC permits)
7. Energy use in industrial systems (e.g., boilers, steam systems, refrigeration, compressed air)
8. Production systems in manufacturing
9. Technology design & implementation
10. Measurement & verification
11. DSR and flexibility
12. Renewable energy technology design and implementation
13. CHP feasibility & design
Essential attributes:
1. Proactive and inquisitive approach
2. Strong level of competence in the use of IT, including Excel, Word and PowerPoint
3. Strong communication skills, both verbal and written
Desirable attributes:
1. Working knowledge of Microsoft Power BI
2. Language skills (particularly German, Spanish, Italian and Portuguese)
Other requirements & attributes:
1. Willingness to travel nationally and internationally to implement projects
2. Able to present a professional appearance to clients and partners
Desirable:
Clean UK driving licence
