Raytheon is seeking a Senior Systems Engineer. The work consists of planned and ad hoc hardware/system engineering tasks on customized special application systems, including system analysis, testing/integration of new deliveries, and discrepancy identification and work off supporting the customer’s 24x7 mission. Personnel selected for this position will be required to work a flexible schedule which includes periodic after-hours short turn-around call-in support.
What You Will Do
1. Primary responsibilities include Operations and Maintenance (O&M) support to large, integrated, complex hardware-software communications systems in a real-time environment.
2. Discrepancy report work off and problem resolution, O&M training/mentoring, trending and analysis, procedure development, data collection, fault isolation, and performing real-time manual actions to restore system capabilities.
3. Preventive and corrective maintenance support across multiple external interfaces over an extensive multi-tiered network.
4. Work closely with delivering factories to provide support to development activities, installation efforts, and special test configurations.
5. Contribute to the development of new creative and complex concepts that will provide value to the customer.
6. Report and document anomalous performance and interact with other team members to validate operational requirements performance.
7. Crosstrain in other operational positions as assigned and assist with the training of other personnel.
8. Development of troubleshooting/recovery plans and implementation of associated management and customer briefs may also be required.
9. Support test activities and/or operational requirements as necessary.
10. Problem-solving in time-critical situations.
11. Participates in corrective maintenance requiring removal/replacement, repair, and testing of failed hardware.
12. Performance of maintenance activities will include climbing multiple sets of stairs, ladders, lifting/carrying up to 50lbs, working in non-environment-controlled spaces, working at elevated heights.
Qualifications You Must Have
1. Typically requires a Bachelor’s in Science, Technology, Engineering, or Mathematics (STEM preferred) and a minimum of 5 years of prior engineering experience or equivalent experience.
2. Experience in Receive Facility (RF) communication antennas and associated transmit and receive hardware systems.
3. Working knowledge of various test equipment such as oscilloscopes, spectrum/link/network analyzers, power meters and signal generation equipment.
4. Experience adhering to administrative, safety, and security policies.
5. SATCOM experience.
6. Experience with Customer built and Commercial Off the Shelf (COTs) based high speed networks, IT systems and real-time software applications supporting communication systems.
7. Active TS/SCI CI Poly transferable U.S. government issued security clearance is required prior to start date. U.S. citizenship is required, as only U.S. citizens are eligible for a security clearance. The ability to obtain and maintain a TS/SCI CI Poly
Qualifications We Prefer
1. Knowledge and experience with facility support systems for RF ground terminal systems (power, HVAC, etc.)
2. Prior military electronics and or satellite communications training/experience.
3. Security+ certification or higher.
4. IT experience (LAN, WAN, Cisco w/certification).
