Job Description Salary: Up to £60,000 depending on experience Location: New Mills, GL12 8JR (R&D HQ) Hybrid working: Minimum 3 days per week onsite About us As a Lead Embedded Software Engineer at Renishaw, you’ll be responsible for the analysis, design, development, and integration of firmware for a new Additive Manufacturing system as well as platforms in active development. We design and manufacture additive manufacturing systems for manufacturing components in a variety of metals using a process called metal powder bed fusion (or laser melting). Our expertise in process development and our experience in using the technology in our own manufacturing operations enable us to provide turn-key and optimised additive manufacturing solutions for a broad range of applications in the industrial and healthcare sectors. You’ll be part of our Embedded Software team, using Agile methodologies, DevOps practices and collaborative software engineering tools. You’ll gain specific domain knowledge and be actively involved in the state-of-the-art technology solutions from R&D projects. About you Qualified to degree level in Computer Science, Software Engineering or Electronics Engineering. Passionate for developing software solutions and applying the best software practices into embedded deliverables. Knowledge of tools such Eclipse (STM32), Microsoft Visual Studio Code, Enterprise Architect, GIT and Atlassian suite. Proficient in C. Experienced in ecosystems such as STM32, Zephyr, Linux including using RTOS and multithreaded techniques for embedded applications. Experienced in using PCB layout tools to capture the firmware requirements/specifications, and to assist in debugging development boards. About the role You will research and develop new software orientated solutions for a wide range of platforms, from STM32 Micros to Cortex-A ARM processors, covering a comprehensive range of devices from motors to encoders and communication stacks such as EtherCAT and OPC-UA. Influence software practices to improve quality as part of fostering a culture of excellence and continuous improvement. Collaborate with our multi-disciplinary teams to engineer user centred designs for the product. Guiding junior engineers through complex technical challenges and supporting their professional development.
