The role will specifically involve:
1. Undertaking major hepatobiliary and pancreatic resections as part of the HPB surgical team.
2. Participating in the 24/7 tertiary HPB on call rota covering Greater Manchester, Cheshire and Lancashire.
3. Support training and research in the field of HPB Surgery.
4. Be part of the Gastrointestinal Medicine and Surgery CSU and HPB department at Manchester Royal Infirmary and supporting Trafford General Hospital.
The HPB Surgery Department provides a secondary service, together with a busy tertiary service which forms a large proportion of our workload, covering a population of 3.5 million.
Main duties of the job
The post carries 10 PA's which include 8.5 fixed clinical sessions with 1.5 SPA, which covers:
1. Adult HPB elective operating list.
2. Out-patient clinics.
3. Patient Administration.
4. Teaching.
5. Continuing Medical Education.
6. Ward round/cover.
7. On-call cover for MRI.
The job plan is subject to review with the appointee in light of the changing needs of the service and the appointee. A commitment is required to address outpatient and in-patient waiting times when required.
