In a nutshell
Are you ready to join a world-class team at Virgin Atlantic Ltd. and take on a pivotal role in our Finance department? We are seeking an exceptionally dedicated Financial Accountant who will be instrumental in consistently delivering high-quality financial reporting for the entire VAL Group and its subsidiaries. This role is key to ensuring our financial operations are flawless, strictly adhering to statutory and regulatory requirements.
Coordinate our financial reporting processes with your proven expertise as a Financial Accountant. You will handle the Group's consolidation process, deliver detailed and timely financial statements, and manage core accounting activities. Your role will also involve coordinating the Group's hedging activities, ensuring adherence to IFRS 9, and maintaining outstanding financial controls.
Day to day
1. Provide high quality technical accounting mentorship on all aspects of International Financial Reporting Standards.
2. Responsible for key month-end reporting tasks, including preparation of the VAL Group balance sheet and cash flow.
3. Accountable for accurate accounting of the Group's hedging activities.
4. Support the Financial Reporting team during the annual audit and year-end reporting cycle, including preparing statutory accounts.
5. Coordinate audit deliverables with the wider Finance team to ensure successful implementation.
6. Maintain the chart of account values and hierarchies with robust control.
About you
1. Qualified ACA, ACCA, CIMA
2. Proven experience in hedge accounting
3. Demonstrates deep knowledge of International Financial Reporting Standards and FRS 101, with the ability to influence decision-making
4. Strong independent professional judgment and problem-solving skills within a business context
5. Experience in a fast-paced finance department or audit firm, with a resilient, self-motivated personality
6. Excellent written and verbal communication skills to explain complex accounting issues to collaborators, customers, partners, and team members
7. Strong systems knowledge, including experience with Oracle Financials
8. Proven capability to prioritize work, operate under pressure, and meet tight deadlines
9. Strong attention to detail and analytical capability, with the ability to provide insightful challenges
10. Proficient in MS Office, particularly Excel
