We are on the search for a Process Engineering Apprentice covering the Sheffield & Barnsley areas.
Permanent contract working 37 hours per week, Monday – Friday.
We have an exciting opportunity for a Process Engineer to join the Clean Water Team at Yorkshire Water and be a part of helping Yorkshire Water to provide the best service to our customers. Could this be you?

Here in Yorkshire, we make sure that over 5.4 million people living in the region and the millions of people who visit our region each year can rely on our services, and have clean and safe drinking water on tap and that their wastewater is taken away.
New environmental legislation, unprecedented levels of investment and changing expectations from customers means that this is an exciting time to discover opportunities within the water industry. Water Production is a key part of how we plan to meet the changing expectations of customers and regulators.
In Water Production, we ensure that our customers are supplied with clean wholesome drinking water. To do this we work with other teams to ensure our assets are always operated safely and optimally.
Where you fit in:
As our Process Engineer Apprentice, you will learn to develop competence in:
* Ensuring compliance with water quality standards including carrying out laboratory checks, taking several water samples at a variety of stages of the process.
* General site maintenance such as checking fire alarms, carrying out site walk arounds to identify and report hazards.
* Ensuring the site has the right number of products in place for the process and ordering stock.
* Leading site operational and maintenance activities, water samples, cleaning instruments to achieve effective asset control and performance.
* Assisting with optimisation activities and sharing best practices.
* Working alongside other technical experts such as Mechanical Engineers to service, maintain and fix assets.
* Working as part of a team to ensure that water demand is provided to our customers.
* Building your skills and competence as part of gaining your licence to operate post your apprenticeship.
* Ensuring compliance with Regulatory and Statutory requirements.
What apprenticeship will I study and how will it be delivered:
Our Process Engineers study the level 3 Water Industry Process Technician apprenticeship standard which is delivered through Watertrain. The apprenticeship is 36 months in duration plus your end point assessment period and is delivered on a block release basis at one of our Water Treatment sites.
What skills & qualifications you will need:
* To hold or be predicted 5 GCSE’s grade A-C or 4-9 including English and Mathematics.
* Full UK driving licence and own method of transport to report to a Clean Water site.
You will also benefit from having:
* An interest in practical activities demonstrated in work experience and/or hobbies.
* Willing and able to work in a confined space.
