About the Role The UK tax team currently consists of two Tax Advisors and one Compliance and Tax Advisor. We are looking to expand the team by recruiting another Tax Advisor to support the tax advisory functions within the team. In the role of Tax Advisor, you work as part of the UK Tax Team and wider Anthos Tax Team providing expert UK tax advice related to the taxation of income, capital gains, inheritances and gifts for UK resident family members. We aim to provide bespoke integrated tax advice which is aligned with personal values and wishes. The role is located in London and reports to Charity Rogers (one of the existing Tax Advisors) in London. Responsibilities The Tax Team provides integrated UK and cross-border tax advice on all aspects of private client taxation, including: Strategic tax planning: we aim to provide clear, comprehensive and practical advice on the tax planning options that are available, equipping clients with the perspectives they need to make choices which are aligned with their values and goals. Investments: we provide advice to family members on the tax implications of investing in our internally managed investment funds. We also work closely with the investment specialists to ensure that our investment offering is tax optimal. We coordinate any UK tax reporting obligations related to internally managed investments and, where necessary liaise with external specialists (for example, in relation to the UK reporting fund requirements). Milestone events: we provide integrated advice on the tax impact of key milestone events, such as relocations between different countries, getting married, getting divorced, retiring and buying and selling a house. We work closely with colleagues in foreign Anthos offices and external advisers to provide integrated tax advice on the impact of relocating to other countries. Tax compliance: we provide inhouse tax compliance services to some family members and work closely in partnership with other accountancy practices who provide tax compliance services to other family members. Tax computations: for some clients we maintain tax computations to help track unremitted mixed funds and advising on making remittances to the UK, including use of the forthcoming TTemporary Repatriation Facility for non-domiciled clients. Family business ownership: we provide operational and strategic advice on the tax impact of owning shares in a multi-generational family business. Estate planning: we work closely with the estate planning advisory team to provide integrated tax advice on inheritances and gifts, aligning our advice with a clients overall wishes. Requirements Ideally, at least 6 years’ post-qualification experience as a tax advisor/private client advisor in a highly professional environment, preferably with experience of international tax complexities and integration of UK and international advice. Ability to conisder both the short-term and long-term objectives (weigh the right "trade-offs") and create a commercial and practical solution that is client-oriented. Numerical skills, ability to use MS Excel skills to ensure work efficiency. Project management skills, including working with colleagues and stakeholders both in the UK and non-UK offices. Ability to work independently and in a team. Ability to collaborate and work closely together with colleagues. Ability to come up with practical solutions and implement them. Ability to think creatively, solve problems, and articulate ideas and solutions clearly. Clearly communicates complex information in a client-friendly manner, in both verbal and written formats. Ability to contribute to the decision-making process alongside the client and colleagues in a concise and practical manner Establishes rapport with people easily; develops and maintains a network of contacts that can provide information, help and access to others.
