This executive role is instrumental in shaping the future of health system support through pioneering contract development and strategic management.
Key Responsibilities:
1. Executive Leadership: Engage with senior business leaders to draft and develop industry-leading Collaborative Working Agreements (CWAs) and strategic partnership arrangements.
2. Strategic Vision: Architect Boehringer UKIE's long-term contract development strategy, framework, and toolbox, collaborating closely with cross-functional teams and global peers.
3. Contractual Mastery: Design and implement sophisticated contractual arrangements that define scope, deliverables, KPIs, and outcomes, ensuring mutual benefits for the company and its partners.
4. Complex Negotiations: Lead the formulation of executable contracting terms from approved business cases and high-stakes customer negotiations, converting project initiation documents into binding obligations and performance-based milestones.
5. Strategic Relationship Management: Cultivate and maintain high-level relationships to gather critical information, provide contract data, and support proposal development.
6. Decision-Making Excellence: Foster an environment that promotes strategic decision-making and agility while ensuring compliance with collaborative communication boundaries.
7. Cross-Functional Leadership: Mobilize and lead cross-functional teams to scope commercial services in alignment with Collaborative Working Agreement project scope.
8. Effective Communication: Interface and communicate effectively with senior customer-facing and in-house legal teams.
9. Financial Stewardship: Ensure contracts are developed within financial budget parameters, applying fiscal responsibility and due diligence. Accurately report financial events and communicate them to the financial team.
10. Risk Mitigation: Identify and address key areas of risk, ensuring agreed thresholds are applied to contracts and anticipating alternative scenarios and solutions.
Requirements:
1. Education: Advanced degree with extensive commercial contracting experience.
2. Certification: ABPI (UK) certification may need to be completed upon employment if not already held.
3. Skills: Exceptional communicator (verbal and written) with strong commercial acumen, in-depth knowledge of contract law, and extensive experience in reviewing, drafting, and negotiating high-value commercial contracts.
4. Experience: Significant experience in the Life Sciences, Pharmaceutical Industry, or NHS.
5. Additional: Valid driving license.
