What will this role achieve?
Provides the site with Health, Safety, Security and Environmental advice and support. Implements pladis Central HS&E policies and procedures and drives continuous improvement of the site standards and systems. Manages the site’s HS&E systems and internal audit programmes. Supports the site in managing accident, issue and incident prevention and investigations, and in delivering compliance to all legal, pladis and other relevant external standards. As a site leadership team member, is instrumental in the development of the site HSE strategy.
What will be your key deliverables?
* Maintains a high level of knowledge and expertise in Health, Safety, Security and Environment matters in order to provide the HSE Lead and the site with appropriate advice and support.
* Responsible for driving and delivering continuous improvement in all aspects of the site’s HSE management systems and standards, in line with the group’s systems and policies.
* Provides managers and employees with information on legislative and Corporate compliance, advises on ways of meeting statutory requirements and Corporate HS&E Policies, HSE recommendations and codes of practice.
* Site Lead for the investigation and review of significant accidents, incidents, complaints and pollution events, and the identification of solutions to prevent recurrence. Drives close out of issues and non-conformance.
* Supports the Crisis Incident Management (CIM) process for H S& E issues by carrying out formal risk assessments and reports into the site’s Green Team.
* Takes an active part in the site HSE committee. Drives the HSE agenda for the site; addresses issues and determines the site requirements for improvements.
* Approves SOPs relating to H, S & E.
* Develops and provides and advises on appropriate site training as required.
* Audits, monitors and reviews the implementation of Health and Safety policies, working practices, safety procedures and standards for all respective operations as directed by the Compliance Manager and Central Compliance team.
* Leads all site audits in conjunction with the Central Audit Team and accompanies auditors on site.
* Collates data and information and reports on site’s HS&E performance.
* Drives risk assessment processes to continuously improve site’s health and safety performance.
* Represents the site for regulatory health, safety & environmental authorities. (The HSE, EA and SEPA in Scotland).
* Proactively manages the site's Accident & Incident Reporting Procedures, making recommendations for future improvements to prevent recurrence where necessary.
* Site lead for interface with regulatory authorities and insurers on key matters such as fire risk assessment and certification, RIDDOR reporting, emergency planning and safety improvement plans.
* Maintain close liaison with Occupational Health (EHW) to ensure H & S provisions are met and understood.
* Is a member of the site's Leadership team and provides effective leadership and co-ordination of the HSE resources within the site to ensure they are prepared to manage all relevant compliance issues and challenges.
What do you need for this role?
* NEBOSH Certificate or NEBOSH Diploma Part or equivalent.
* Significant experience in a Health & Safety role.
* Significant experience in a manufacturing environment.
* Good knowledge of Health & Safety Law and its application.
* TECH SP Membership of IOSH.
* Membership of IOSH or greater (CMIOSH).
* Diploma in Environmental Management or IEMA Certificate / Diploma.
* Membership of IEMA.
* Degree in relevant Health & Safety or Environmental subject.
