Job overview

We support your professional development and are able to offer a range of study opportunities, which include undertaking the care of the patient receiving chemotherapy module at Oxford Brookes to be able to administer chemotherapy. We are also able to offer other haematology/cancer care modules which are all accredited and can be used towards degree/masters. As the inpatient unit for Autologous Stem Cell transplant, we are also able to offer the Stem Cell transplant module too.
Ward 5 operates a two-shift working pattern - 07:00-19:30 and 19:00-07:30. You will be required to work across site with Clinical Nurse Specialist and Multi-disciplinary team members within the Cancer Care and Haematology units and ward. You will be required to work a rotational shift pattern Monday to Sunday.
Main duties of the job
The post holder is designated to regularly take charge of the ward/department, and provide effective, professional and managerial leadership focus, in the absence of the ward manager or deputy. Is expected to carry out all relevant forms of care, maintaining a high standard of nursing care within the framework of Trust policies. Teaches qualified and unqualified staff including basic and/or post basic students. Will participate in an annual performance review at which appropriate targets will be defined.
