Senior Engineer
Contract: Essex Highways
Location: Chelmsford
Contract Type: Permanent
The undertaking of analysis and design of bridge and retaining wall structures in reinforced concrete, and steel. To provide technical analysis expertise and experience-based leadership within a small design team. Working as part of a team and reporting to the team leader, the successful candidate will be key in developing junior staff whilst maintaining high standards in their own work. The role contributes to the delivery of the structures programme of work.
The successful candidate will work within or across a team delivering structure refurbishment, assessment and replacement schemes. This will require use of initiative, detailed knowledge of structural design codes, of the DMRB, MCHW and of CDM regulation and processes.
The Role
- To prepare, design, plan, programme highway structures works and services.
- To provide clear and effective project leadership.
- To assist in the management and monitoring of works programmes or services.
- To mentor junior staff in the delivery of structural design and development of highway structures schemes
- To check other team members work
- To provide assistance to the team leader in relation to all aspects covered within the group and deputise in their absence.
- To assist in budgetary control and ensure that financial management is undertaken throughout areas of responsibility.
About You
- Design Expertise with Eurocodes and modern standards, DMRB
- Working knowledge of preparation of contract specifications, use of MCHW
- Extensive knowledge and application of Highway Legislation, relevant structures design procedures, standards and good practice.
- Knowledge and experience of budgetary governance, management and control measures.
- Knowledge and application of Health and Safety legislation including Construction (Design & Management) Regulations
