About the Role -
We are currently looking for a Software Engineer to join our Developer Experience Platform Enablement Team, working in an AWS Serverless environment.
What you’ll be Doing:
* Be part of a cross-functional team which implement platform tooling, automate processes, maximise our up-time, as well has enhancing our design system and core web component library.
* Work in a DevOps environment, owning and enhancing CI/CD, IaC best practices, incident management, our internal developer platform Backstage, whilst also being responsible for automating processes and workflows across the business.
* Alongside the rest of the team, you will own the Observability solution, implementing best practice for Logging, Metrics and Tracing across the entire firm in line with AWS Serverless best practices.
* You will be encouraged to learn new skills and techniques, and to identify where generative AI can be used to solve problems.

Our expectations of our Software Engineers:
* Good engineering comes first: First and foremost, we are always striving for good engineering and this is so much more than just writing good, clean code. It’s a way of thinking about your code, domain, peers, supporting processes and the entire ecosystem in which you operate. You should be learning how this all fits together and focusing on your contribution towards it.
* Focus on delivery: Delivery is fundamental to great engineering, it’s why we write software after all. You will build up a solid understanding of what good delivery looks like, how to work in high performing teams, what makes good team dynamics and how the collective process contributes towards fast, incremental delivery.
* Learn and grow: You will be continuously growing your engineering skills and ensuring you are surrounding yourself with people that can help you do this. Understand the core differences between coding, craft and architecture and how they are applied at scale. You are evolving to a world in which you are responsible for part of the technical estate, so make sure you are growing to take on this challenge with confidence.
You’ll be a good fit for the role if you:
* You are comfortable collaborating with cross team engineers and senior stakeholders.
* You are passionate about finding solutions to solve problems and improving efficiency across the firm.
* You have experience with GitHub and most of our tech environment.
* You are keen to learn new technologies and to explore how GenAI can be used.
* Understanding event-based architecture is a plus.
* Knowledge of accessibility best practices and experience working with a design system would be a plus.
Our Tech Environment
* Full-stack, cross-functional teams, working closely with people of different specialisms within your team and across the business.
* AWS, Serverless, Terraform, C#, .NETCore, TypeScript, Node.js, GraphQL, React, Snowflake, Docker, Grafana.
* GitHub for source control and continuous integration.
* Developing solutions using Generative AI models.
* Robust and performant cloud/serverless applications, with a focus on user experience and business growth.
* Backstage as our Internal Developer Platform.
We don’t expect you to have experience with all of the technologies above, so if your experience doesn't cover some areas but you have cloud/serverless experience, please apply.
