THE BUSINESS
Westray Recruiting Group is recruiting for a Safety, Health, Environmental and Quality Coordinator (SHEQ) to work within a Hartlepool site location. Our client specializes in decommissioning and has numerous projects occurring across their multiple site locations predominantly around the North of England. This role is fixed in one location (95% of the time) with minimal travel to other sites when required. The organization centers on the construction sector and is supporting the rise of a Carbon Zero Strategy.
THE ROLE
* Support the development and improvement processes with the associated procedures for compliance with and maintaining certification to ISO 14001, ISO 9001 & ISO 45001, and in the future ISO 50001.
* Continually review, develop, and improve processes and associated procedures for complying with and maintaining certification (ISO 9001, ISO 14001 & ISO 45001).
* Represent the Group and provide updates on matters concerning the Group's performance in environmental and quality matters.
* Assist with the maintenance of the management systems layout to maximize ease of navigation, use, and accessibility.
* Support the Head of SHEQ regarding the development and maintenance for an effective audit process which includes the undertaking of effective audits, issue of associated reports, and follow-up of actions and associated evidence as appropriate.
* Provide accurate information relating to assurance, certification, and associated performance to meet the requirements of internal and external stakeholders.
* Ensure all health and safety regulations are followed in the workplace.
* Assist and support the Head of SHEQ with creating and implementing programs to promote health and safety.
* Conduct inspections and audits to ensure Health and Safety compliance.
* Identify and evaluate potential health and safety hazards.
* Implement measures to mitigate or eliminate hazards.
* Assist with the development and maintaining health and safety policies and procedures.
* Assist with driving forward environmental commitments and objectives, including Carbon Zero Strategy.
* Ensure that the Environmental Aspects and Impacts are kept up to date with regard to legislative compliance and regulatory control.
* Support and assist the development and implementation of the EMS within the Integrated Management System.
* Assist with projects on environmental issues and with legislative compliance and regulatory control.
* Coordinate the group's quality plans and objectives in accordance with ISO 9001.
* Plan, prepare, develop, and maintain Quality Plans including updates on current and new requirements.
* Carry out quality audits producing audit reports. Analyze results and produce quality performance statistics.
* Support the Head of SHEQ with the Audit schedule detailing internal and external audit programs as required for the Management systems, external accreditation, and client/customer requirements.
* Assist with the development, implementation, and update of the Quality Policy and QMS.
THE PERSON
* Previous experience within SHEQ role within sectors such as Construction, Chemicals, Ports, Heavy Industry, Demolition preferred
* NEBOSH General Certificate
* Experience of creating a proactive safety culture
* Must be able to work at height and not daunted by this
* Strong interpersonal skills
* CDM knowledge
* Auditing experience and recognized auditor training (does not need to be lead auditor)
* Good focus on worker safety
* Able to identify risk across people safety, environmental, and construction safety
* Able to undertake assurance checks and inspections
