As HCA with no previous experience in care, a Band 2 will provide an opportunity of progression to Band 3 SHCA once training competencies are attained. Helping patients wash and dress, supporting at mealtimes, Making and changing beds Taking basic observations, such as temperatures, pulse, respiration's, and weight. Keeping patients comfortable and safe, maintaining good relationships with patients, carers, and relatives. Experienced SHCA assist patients who may require interventions for the administration of medication, wound, catheter care, bladder scans and support and advice during the last stages of life. We will provide a training in wound care, care of urethral catheters, caring for the palliative patient who is nearing the end of their life, obtaining and recording accurately the physiological signs and symptoms of the unwell or deteriorating patient and a variety of other clinical skills. To fulfil the needs of service delivery to patients/service users and in line with our current team of clinicians, the post holder will work as part of a flexible rota over seven days a week, which will include working evenings, weekends and Bank Holidays.
