Reporting to: Head of Operations LRC Main Purpose The LRC will support students with careers advice, coordinating careers resources in the school. They will be a key member in the school pastoral care team, supervising the LRC space during school hours, providing a student hub with support. Job Specification: Responsibilities and Duties Careers Lead • Oversee the careers library and all careers literature, ensuring effective management of careers software. • Liaise with PHSE lead to support careers delivery across the school. • Provide advice for university admissions and coordinate UCAS, alongside the exams and data officer. • Provide students with advice on Further Education and Higher Education. • Be the school’s work experience coordinator providing advice and assistance to students with work placements. Ensure all relevant checks and paperwork are in place and well managed. • Ensure that the school is meeting all mandatory standards set by Gatsby benchmarks and Ofsted in relation to careers advise. • Liaise with the Senior Leadership Team (SLT) regarding the development and provision of careers advice at the school. • Responsible for embedding the provision of careers advice across the school. Learning Resources Centre • Responsible for the management of the Learning Resources Centre, including organisation of books, ICT and other learning resources. • Supervise the LRC for staff and students, providing access for students at all times in school hours and out of school hours as required. • Responsible for running after school club / homework club for students, providing students with necessary support. • Be a key member of the school pastoral care team, being responsible for providing a quiet safe space for students offering them support and guidance. • Afternoon First Aid cover – Offer afternoon support to students providing a quiet space for • Develop updated resources within agreed budgets in conjunction with SLT. • Provide reprographics support and occasional support to other areas of the school in coordination with the Head of Operations and the Director of Studies. General • Fully and positively participate in the school’s performance appraisal scheme in order to develop and enhance personal and service performance. • Undertake any other reasonable duties requested/assigned as required by Head of Operations or line manager. • Support literacy coordinator across the school. • Support Head of Operations with coordination of school events and fundraising activities as required. • Support administration of efficient health and safety checks for educational visits and school trips. • Support exams officer at peak periods and on exams results day. Person Specification The successful candidate should be able to provide evidence of suitability to work with children and young people. Experience of working directly with children and young people in an educational setting is essential. You will be required to provide and coordinate careers advice and previous careers experience would be preferred. You should have experience of working in a busy educational environment and be able to prioritise a demanding work load. Exceptional all-round administration skill, including the ability to evaluate and contribute to the continual improvement of the school and its systems is important. You should have the ability to undertake project management and have strong IT skills. You should have the ability to work flexibly and be open to change. You should have outstanding interpersonal skills with the ability to develop and nurture excellent working relations students, staff and with a wide range of stakeholders. Being able to deal with others with tact discretion and confidentiality. Excellent planning and organisational skills are essential, along with exceptional time-management. You need to be pro-active, solution focused with the ability to work on your own, being able to quickly form positive relationships with children and young people. The role will require someone who is self-motivated and resilient. You must be efficient, supportive and helpful with high personal standards. You should have an interest in Steiner Waldorf education.
