Job Purpose:
Responsible for managing the execution, direction and coordination of all transportation matters within the organisation. This includes managing budgets, organising schedules and routes ensuring that vehicles are safe and meet legal requirements and making sure drivers are aware of their duties.
The job holder will be partly responsible for optimising the company fleet, including vehicles and routings for UK sites .
Main Responsibilities:
1. Ensure the safe operation of all Transport activities on the current 3 sites, ensuring compliance with H&S legislation & safe systems of work.
2. Full management of the fleet and transport operation
3. Ensures legal compliance to the Traffic Commissioners Operating Licenses, for the business. Ensure all sites conform and work any needed Vehicle Operator Licensing Agency inspections.
4. Working closely with the production sites to optimise the fleet utilisation and use of sub-contractors / agency staff as and when required.
5. Ensures that all DVSA compliance standards as well as company’s own compliance standards are adhered to at all times. This includes timely scheduling for PMI, MOT, drivers routine checks, among other compliance measures.
6. Daily monitoring the defect reports, fuel usage and mileage
7. Ensure all incidences and accidents reported are fully investigated and actions taken as necessary
8. Keeping accurate compliance records and ensuring successful completion of audits.
9. Manage performance of drivers and transport team to ensure all deliveries and collections are being achieved in a timely manner providing a first-class service, which form part of departments KPI’s
10. Helping to Manage employee related matters such as recruitment, training, appraisals and resource levels.
11. Making the best use of technology to minimise transport costs.
12. To manage the transport routing
13. Work closely with warehouse management to ensure goods are loaded correctly and safely.
Key requirements:
14. Experience in a similar position
15. A good understanding of transport regulations, compliance, and fleet management.
16. Proven experience in transport management, ideally within a logistics or distribution environment within the food industry
17. Excellent organisational skills and the ability to multitask effectively.
18. Problem-solving abilities and a proactive approach to challenges
19. Computer literate – with a good knowledge of all Microsoft applications and TMS.
20. Strong communication (verbal and written)
21. Must be deadline and detail-oriented
22. Customer focused.
