Job Overview
We are seeking a Deputy Director of Communications, Engagement and Involvement.
The communications and marketing team, and involvement and engagement teams, are responsible for ensuring its people, patients, partners, and communities are informed, engaged, and involved in the development and delivery of services.
This role will lead both those teams and play a pivotal leadership role across the Trust to support our wider strategic objectives.
Main Duties of the Job
Key Results Areas:
* Shape and drive strategic communications initiatives, enhancing the Trust’s reputation and ensuring patient and public voices are heard.
* Set the organisation’s brand presence and reputation, communications and engagement strategies, and build strong relationships with key stakeholders.
* Plan and align communications, engagement, and involvement strategies with the Trust’s overall mission and goals.
* Build and maintain relationships with stakeholders across a complex system.
* Accountable for leading and managing the communications and marketing team and driving top performance.
Person Specification
Qualifications
* A degree, supplemented by specialist, professional industry training at doctorate or equivalent level experience.
* Postgraduate qualification or professional development in healthcare communications, engagement, or involvement.
* Evidence of continuous professional and personal development in the sector.
* Membership of relevant professional body (e.g., CIPR, CIM).
Experience
* Proven leadership and management experience in communications, engagement, and involvement strategies.
* A strong background in healthcare or the public sector.
* Experience leading crisis communications and high-pressure situations.
* Proven experience in brand management for a public-facing organisation.
Skills
* Ability to work independently and manage several teams.
* Excellent leadership and people skills.
Knowledge
* In-depth knowledge of the NHS and its priorities.
* Strong understanding of brand strategy and audience analysis.
